Thorsten Weinelt

Thorsten joined Commerzbank as Chief Investment Officer in May 2022, where he is responsible for investment strategy and asset allocation, advising private and entrepreneurial clients as well as corporate and institutional investors. Before joining Commerzbank, he spent 25 years at UniCredit Group in several senior management roles, including Global Head of Research and Chief Strategist in the Corporate & Investment Bank, CIO of the UniCredit Bank Pension Fund, and Head of Wealth Management Germany as well as member of the UniCredit Group Wealth Management Executive Committee, overseeing asset management, sales, and product units. He began his career at Vereinsbank as an economist and fixed income and FX strategist and later built up a credit research team from scratch. Thorsten holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business as well as Master degrees in Economics and Applied Economics from the University of Kiel and Paris Dauphine. Thorsten is CFA and CEFA charterholder and is a regular lecturer at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the University of Innsbruck, where he teaches corporate valuation.








